IT IS CHARACTERISED BY THE PRESENCE OF MARKEDLY ABNORMAL OR IMPAIRED DEVELOPMENT IN SOCIAL INTERACTION AND COMMUNICATION AND A MARKEDLY RESTRICTED REPERTOIRE OF ACTIVITY AND INTEREST. MANIFESTATIONS OF THE DISORDER VARY GREATLY DEPENDING ON THE DEVELOPMENTAL LEVEL AND CHRONOLOGICAL AGE OF THE INDIVIDUAL.
